Model, Photography Workshop

One of our models from a previous photography workshop.

Rolando has  visited Costa Rica many times and has the right locations that will support our “Glamour, Beauty & The Nude” photography workshops format in the most efficient manner, and it’s limited to eight photographers who will photograph four beautiful models!

The workshop is based out of the Jacó Beach area and lodging recommendations are available. Meals and drinks are not included, but we do this as a group and know the best locations. Some free time is built in to the schedule too so you can enjoy the sites. Feel free to come early or stay longer, that’s up to you, we can meet you at the airport or in Jaco.

The workshop includes transportation to and from the San Jose airport to Jacó, which is approximately an hour drive. Photographers will spend three days photographing models on a special secluded area of Hermosa Beach, the rain forest, Jaco Beach, and much, much more. Throughout the entire workshop, Rolando will provide hands-on instruction to all photographers.

You will arrive on Thursday, Nov. 2nd and our departure day is the following Tuesday, Nov. 7th.  Limited to eight photographers who will shoot in teams of two photographers per one model, photographing four models for three days, Friday through Sunday. Monday is an optional private shoot day where you can book models by the hour for your exclusive shooting at an additional rate.

Each photographer will take turns shooting and assisting one another in their specific, two-man team. All photographers will photograph all four models during the workshop. At the end of the official workshop shooting days, Sunday evening, we’ll do mandatory model releases, paid to the models, at the rate of $80 per model for a total of $320. This money goes directly to the model 100-percent.

The early-bird price for this photography workshop is $1999 and allows you to save $500 now! The secure PayPal button below anchors your price now! If you see a PayPal button below, a photographer’s slot is still available.

Arrive between noon and 5 p.m. at the Costa Rica, San Jose airport on Thursday, Nov. 2nd. Any later arrivals require an additional $100 transportation surcharge due to scheduling. You will be transported via private transportation to the Jacó area, hotels are recommended prior to the workshop.

Thursday evening, around approximately 7 p.m., we’ll have dinner for the entire group at a local restaurant. At this dinner, introductions, photographer and teams will be paired and numbered, plus pertinent information will be released. Make-up call times will be given to the models, shooting times and locations coordinated.

Exotic Photography Workshop

Fourth book cover photo captured at one of our exotic photography workshops.

Friday morning, first shoot location, one model per team. After a short afternoon lunch break, models will rotate so each team will have a new model to work with for their late afternoon/evening sunset shoots. This shoot is at another location ideal for sunsets.

Saturday will be the same as Friday, with the exception the teams will work with two additional models.

Sunday morning is an intensive critique session for the entire group, no shooting. We’ll pick up the shooting part late afternoon and we’ll wrap up the workshop part after sunset including distributing model releases.

Monday all day, private shoots based on a first-come, first-serve booking and must end by sunset when we have our closing ceremonies and final dinner, not to mention allow time for a few farewell drinks.

Tuesday, transport to the San Jose airport via private transportation. Please book your return flights anytime from noon to late afternoon departures as you must allow at least one hour to the airport, plus at least two hours for international flights—nobody wants to get up too early after the “casting party” atmosphere on Monday night. Anyone who must depart to the airport before 10:00 a.m., as we have to run groups of people to the airport, will be charged a small surcharge for individual service.

Should you desire to arrive before the workshop, stay after the workshop, or both, please let us know and we’ll meet you in Jacó.

Requirements:

1. You must be 18 years of age or older. You must provide your own transportation to San Jose, Costa Rica and arrive before 5 p.m. on Thursday, Nov. 2, 2017, as outlined in the above workshop description. Airport code is SJO. You are responsible for most meals and drinks.

Costa Rica Photography Workshop

2. You must be physically fit enough to walk a city block and lift 25 lbs. We will make available Hensel battery portable lighting equipment and California Sunbounce reflectors. You may bring your own flash units, or any lighting equipment you prefer. You must provide your own camera, lenses, and all accessories for your camera system.

3. You must have the passion to photograph up to four beautiful models and patient enough for them to change into wardrobe. The type of photography is glamour and nude photography for some models.

4. These are long days, which means late dinners along with early mornings—you will get tired by the time you have to leave, but you will treasure every moment and leave with amazing photos. There will be some mandatory down time during the middle of the day to allow models to prepare for the next shoot after lunch. Use this time to recharge your camera batteries, download your images to your storage devices/computer, etc.

5. Camera requirements are any type of camera, preferably 35mm DSLR or SLR, medium or large format is optional. Lens focal range, from 24mm to 300mm, though a typical 70-200mm lens is all you need. A back-up drive to download your images every evening and/or laptop computer is highly recommended. We will provide radio triggers for our battery packs, though not required, we recommend a standard  or classic Pocket Wizard radio transmitter if you have one, if you don’t, no worries.

6. Professionalism is required as we’re there to capture beautiful images of beautiful models in a remote, but beautiful location. Safety is number one. While there is time to socialize and relax within the group, we are not there on a bachelor party. We will have some fun and great times, but the focus is great photos!

7. All sign-ups are non-refundable. Once you lock in a spot, we can only try to help you find someone to replace you if you cannot attend, however, there is no guarantee and so if you sign-up, plan accordingly so you will not have to cancel. We will look at each case individually should you need to cancel. These types of workshops require locked-in sign-ups due to their small size and prepaid costs.

8. Please notify us of any special dietary needs. In addition, please check with your doctor, travel agency, etc., what vaccinations, if any, you might need before attending. Costa Rica is a great and safe place and not as third-world as other countries. Thousands of U.S. citizens have moved and live in Costa Rica. Many people retire there because of its beauty and low costs. Normally you must have at least six months left on your passport, if you don’t, simply renew your passport before travel.

9. By signing up for this workshop, you do so at your own risk, meaning, we are not responsible for any accidents. We require safety at all times and common sense. We will provide safety briefings as required.

Model releases are mandatory as outlined in the workshop description above. Monday, Nov. 6th, is a private shoot day booked on a first-come-first-serve basis during the workshop part, before Monday. It’s based on an hourly rate of $100 per hour. Monday is not required, you can just relax and enjoy the property or Costa Rica on your own, however, we recommend take what you’ve learned, along with your favorite location, and apply it for your private shoots. Get some great images if you’ve traveled this far!

Cancellation rules apply as this is a first-come, first-serve event limited in size. In addition, this is a non-cancel event, so should you need to cancel, we will work with you help you find a replacement, however, no guarantees, though we’ll offer some type of future workshop credit. Because of the size and expenses associated with this limited style workshop, we cannot accept requests for refunds when the cancellation is on your behalf, though we will take each situation on a case by case basis and work with you the best we can. Don’t get left behind, don’t miss out on a wonderful opportunity. We can’t allow too many people on the property, it’s very limited in size, so don’t delay, act now an save before prices go up!

One of our models poses at Orient Beach during our St. Maarten model photography workshop.

We’re in our 17th year of photography workshops including our “exotics” in the beautiful places of Cozumel, Maui, Virgin Islands, Costa Rica, Moab, St. Martin/St. Maarten and others. This photography workshop offers unique photo opportunities around the island with our gorgeous models while still being able to kick back in the evenings to enjoy St. Maarten various shooting locations, from beaches to balconies as jets fly by.

We work in two-man teams to ensure one model per team of photographers and the models are rotated over a three day period, plus we allow one optional day of private shooting scheduled with the models of your choice.

Take photo at famous beaches like Orient Beach on the French side of the islands and Maho beach on the Dutch side of the island, then in enjoy a mojito while watching jumbo jets land almost in front of you at the beachfront Sunset Bar & Grill. While photographers are required to provide their own lodging, we recommend the Sonesta Maho Beach Resort and Casino next to Maho beach with a “pool/ocean view” if possible or the hotel Alegrio.

Maho beach is less than a five-minute walk from the hotel though we’ll have transportation take us to other areas on both the French and Dutch sides of St. Martin/St. Maarten. Beaches, models, sunsets, and more, you can’t go wrong if you want some great model photos while enjoying the relaxed atmosphere of this beautiful islands that is half French and half Dutch.

You can also do a search on Hotels.com for best prices of nearby hotels if you choose not to stay at hotels near Maho Beach. St. Maarten is a tropical paradise to remember and provides a setting that allows for the group to bond and create great photos and there are plenty of hotels and vacation rentals throughout the island at reasonable rates.

Corsair Airbus A330 at SXM Bidini

Our daily meeting location is on Maho Beach near the airport and a quick taxi ride though some previous workshop attendees have rented cars to enjoy the island during their stay. Plan your arrival on Thursday, June 15, and departure June 20th on the following Tuesday. Though in previous workshops, many photographers come early and stay later to explore the amazing photography opportunity the island offers as well as nearby islands that are quick ferry, plane or boat ride away. The airport code is SXM (Princess Juliana International Airport). Photographers will spend three days photographing models on special beach areas, plus Maho Beach. Throughout the entire workshop, Rolando will provide hands-on instruction to all photographers. Some lighting equipment is provided, but feel free to bring some of your own, like an on-camera flash too.

Limited to ten photographers photographing up to five models for three days, Friday through Sunday. Monday is an optional private shoot day, where you can book models by the hour for your exclusive shooting. Each photographer will take turns shooting and assisting one another in their specific, two-man teams. All photographers will photograph all five models during the workshop. If only eight photographers sign up, then we’ll adjust and have four models. All adjustments are made to ensure a two photographer to one model ratio as these are planned shoots, not group shoots.

You must provide your own transportation to the Princess Juliana International Airport (SXM) and arrive before 6 p.m. on Thursday, June 15, 2017, as outlined in the above workshop description. Please check your passport requirements, as you are responsible for the required official documents to arrive.

2. You must be physically fit enough to walk a city block and lift 25 lbs. We will have some lighting equipment. You are also encouraged to bring your own flash units, or any lighting equipment you prefer. You must provide your own camera, lenses, and all accessories for your camera system.

3. You must have the passion to photograph up to five beautiful models and patient enough for them to change into wardrobe. The type of photography is fashion, glamour, and beauty. The ability for nude photography is left up to each individual model, not all models do nudes, not all locations allow for nude photography.

Model, Photography Workshop

One of our models from a previous photography workshop.

5. Camera requirements are any type of camera, preferably 35mm DSLR, Mirrorless, or SLR, medium or large format is optional. Lens focal range, from 24mm to 300mm, though a typical 70-200mm lens is all you need. A back-up drive to download your images every evening and/or laptop computer is highly recommended. We will provide radio triggers for our battery packs, though not required, we recommend a standard or classic Pocket Wizard radio transmitter, again, not required.

6. Professionalism is required as we’re there to capture beautiful images of beautiful models in a remote, but beautiful location. Safety is number one.

9. By signing up for this workshop, you do so at your own risk, meaning, we are not responsible for any accidents and/or travel logistic issues you may incur with your transportation carriers. We require safety at all times and common sense. We will provide safety briefings as required.

Model releases are mandatory as outlined in the workshop description above. Monday, June 19th is a private shoot day booked on a first-come-first-serve basis during the workshop part, before Monday. It’s based on an hourly rate of $100 per hour. Monday is not required, you can just relax and enjoy the island on your own, however, we recommend take what you’ve learned, along with your favorite location, and apply it for your private shoots. Get some great images if you’ve traveled this far!

Cancellation rules apply as this is a first-come, first-serve event limited in size, this is a non-cancel event, so should you need to cancel, we will work with you help you find a replacement, however, no guarantees and no refunds, though we’ll offer some type of future workshop credit.

Maui, Glamour Photography Workshop

Date: August 3 to 7, 2017, Three Days Shooting, Limited In Size!
Time: Morning Light (TBA) until sunset each day
Location: Maui (Kaanapali, plus trip to Hana)
Prices: $2499 Early-Bird Price! (A $1000 savings right now! No other discounts! Price will rise!)

We’re back in Maui for another fashion, glamour, beauty and the nude photography workshop in 2017! We’ll recommend the hotel for you to stay, in fact, bring your spouse too for after workshop hours enjoyment. Come early or stay longer and make it a vacation! Come have fun, learn and enjoy photographing gorgeous models in paradise. Once it’s sold-out, it’s sold-out!

Photography Workshop Models

One of our new models, Ashley from our Bahamas Photography Adventure.

Limited to only 8 photographers! You will work in teams of two, one model per team per half-day, two models per day. At the end of three days, you’ll have photographed four gorgeous models.

Though we’ve done this in Maui many times before, it’s our only 2017 Maui workshop. The workshop is limited in size to ensure you get a better hands-on type of photography instruction. The format allows you to spend quality time with each model for amazing and unique photographs.

This workshop is open to photographers of all levels, beginners to advanced, but is a first-come, first serve basis–once it’s sold out, it’s sold out and might not be offered again for quite sometime. Lighting equipment is provided, just bring your cameras, but you may bring your own lighting gear too, it’s up to you. It is very unique in format ensuring quality photography.

Here are the particulars:

1. You must pay for your own lodging and travel, we’ll provide suggestions, though you’re free to stay where you want in Maui, though we highly recommend the Kaanapali area, especially the boardwalk area. You are required to arrive no later than 7:00 p.m., local time on Thursday, as we will meet Thursday evening and plan out the shooting days. Details will be sent after securing your slot as we get near the workshop dates. Be prepared to shoot all day on Friday, Saturday and Sunday.

Model, Photography Workshop

One of our models from a previous photography workshop.

Departure is anytime Monday or when you choose as many people in the past stay longer and make a week of Hawaii. We recommend you use Orbitz or Hotels.com, or a similar website to locate your hotel of your choice, but we recommend staying in the Kaanapali area as traffic in other areas can cause time delays. Somewhere near Whaler’s Village is best as you can walk the boardwalk and save on parking charges. We recommend you fly to Maui early and/or stay a few days afterwards and make it a vacation! Bring your spouse!

Breakfast, lunch, dinner, and lodging are not included, though we will provide some refreshments. We will encourage group activities, but you are not required to participate, such as dinner at a local establishment and a Luau.

We recommend you rent a small vehicle for your traveling to and from the workshop location and for your own enjoyment on your free time. While we’ll do our best to transport you if you do not have a rental vehicle, though we cannot guarantee this part, as rental properties and hotels are scattered throughout the island. A rental car is highly recommended, especially if you want to explore all the island offers. While you can bring your significant other, they are not be allowed to photograph the models during the workshop unless they secure a photographer’s slot.

2. Bring your camera, preferably a DSLR or mirrorless camera. It must have a hotshoe (where you flash slides on top) or as a minimum, a pc connection for our studio flash–we provide all equipment. Plus we’ll be mixing natural daylight with tungsten and flash too.

3. You must have the passion to photograph up to four beautiful models. The type of photography is fashion, glamour, beauty and nude photography for some models. You will have three days to photograph them in all their beauty. Due to beach and local laws, nudity will not be allowed in public areas and though limited, only in our private rental property for the workshop location. Nudity is not a focus on this workshop, but some will be allowed.

4. While it’s intense, we’ll have fun in this educational experience. Bring your coffee, but surely bring some Red Bull for energy because this is an energized workshop. Boredom is not an option!

5. Camera requirements are any type of camera, preferably 35mm DSLR or mirrorless, medium or large format is optional. Lens focal range, from 24mm to 300mm, though a typical 70-200mm lens is all you need. I prefer my prime 85mm, but anything in the 50-105mm range is a minimum. A back-up drive to download your images and/orlaptop computer is recommended. If you have a Sony (Minolta) camera, please ensure you have a hot shoe adapter or PC connection.

6. Professionalism is required, we’re there to capture beautiful images of beautiful models. If you have Pocket Wizard remotes, bring them too, though not required as we’ll have our own radio triggers. We’ll work with beauty dishes, softboxes, reflectors and more, all provided by us!

7. Some refreshments are provided but you are responsible for your meals, though we’ll provide suggestions. We also take a lunch break with recommendations.

You must be 18-years of age or older to attend. Total workshop model release fee for the entire event, except the private shoot day, is $400 for four models ($100 per model paid at the end of day three).

Due to it’s size, location, and logistics, as we’ll be flying an entire crew in, there will be no refunds offered once you sign-up. We cannot accept requests for refunds when the cancellation is on your behalf, though we will take each situation on a case by case basis and work with you the best we can for future credit to a future workshop(s). Don’t get left behind, don’t miss out on a wonderful opportunity. We can’t allow too many people on the property, it’s very limited in size, so don’t delay, act now an save before prices go up!

Virgin Islands-Nov 09′ (SOLD-OUT)

Date: 11/5-10/2009 (SOLD OUT)
Venue: U.S. Virgin Islands
Details: The first Virigin Islands worskhop sold-out in less than 2-weeks!  All of the VI workshops for 2008 sold-out, most sold-out a year in advance!  All of the 2008 workshops are sold-out! Here’s your chance if you missed out to book early for 2009!  Only Twelve Photographers and Six Models per workshop.  First-come, first-serve!

This will be our 20th Virgin Islands workshop.    The dates are Nov. 5th-10th, 2009.  Fly in on Nov. 5th (Thurs.) to St. Thomas (Airport code STT) then we ferry over to a smaller island where it’s private, camp-style workshop–open to all levels of photography, from beginners to advanced–your departure day is Nov.10th (Tuesday) unless you choose to stay longer in St. Thomas on your own.

These workshops promise to be better than the best workshops ever done–this is not a foreign country, this is the U.S. Virgin Islands! No currency conversions, no foreign language, no crazy inflated value-added taxes or worries about the food and water or your camera equipment held in customs till you pay the “bribe.” Currently a U.S. passport it not required, provided you present a government issued identification card, such as a driver’s license.

(All images below, photographed at previous Virgin Islands’ Workshops, actual models, equipment and location featured!)

We’ve got a place that rocks! The location was featured on HGTV this year and Brad Pitt filmed parts for one of his movies on this secluded island part of the islands.  It’s not your “typical tourist hotel” trap found in other workshops–this is a private paradise 10-minutes from St. Thomas giving us great sunsets, sunrises, private infinity-pool shots with the ocean blue/green waters and golden sunsets in the background.
